Over 8 years of work experience in chemical and pharmaceutical companies including 7 years in a German multinational company (Bayer) in Corporate Image building.

American education (MBA from UCLA, PhD from University of Wyoming, USA) and Mumbai University.

International experience - Worked for 3 years with US Dept. of State as an Economic Advisor at its Consulate Office in Mumbai and for a decade with Indo-American Chamber of Commerce as its Executive Director promoting the cause of Indo-American businesses in India.

Has participated actively either as an anchor or as a contributor in discussion programs on Indo-American Affairs, Business, Environmental Issues, Public Relations, Student Guidance and Orientation Tips for those going to America on Doordarshan and Prasar Bharati (All India Radio) on over 100 occasions.

Has authored over 100 articles in leading newspapers and magazines on Economic Issues, Current Affairs, Indo-US matters, US Immigration issues and Environmental Pollution and Protection subjects.

Has reviewed over 75 books in newspapers and magazines.

Active Rotarian. Member of Rotary Club of Bombay, Asia's largest, over 15 years.

Toured Australia as Group Study Exchange Scholar of Rotary International in 1975.

Extensive involvement with Indo-American Society to promote educational and cultural exchanges between India and America. Vice-President of Indo-American Society for 10 years. Instrumental in bringing the organization to a great height in terms of resources, programmes, membership, manpower, Executive Committee and Presidents. Indo-American Society today has a great public image which is due in no small measure to the tremendous contribution made by Dr. Arun C. Vakil along with others. Dr. Vakil initiated Public Recognition Awards of Indo-American Society annually now known as Young Achievers' Awards, a landmark event of the organisation.

First in India to undertake research on Environmental Pollution and its Economic Impact. Completed a doctoral thesis entitled "Economic Aspects of Environmental Pollution in India" which was released as a book by then Indian Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi in 1984.

Flair for writing : Articles, Speeches, Backgrounders. Has authored 2 books. Edited house journals at Indo American Chamber, Bayer, Wockhardt and Larsen & Toubro.

Proficient in handling exhibitions, organizing events, shareowners visit to factory and being the Master of Ceremonies at official/social events of companies/associations.
